Okay so I've realized that my last post (In College and Confused) gave a lot of background as to who I am and my life right now, but no where did I add where Beat The Culture comes into play. And that's a HUGE part of my life, and now yours! So here's some explaining...
I don't watch TV. I know, I'm weird. But I simply don't have the attention span for it. I would rather listen to podcasts and audiobooks while I clean my room, drive, workout, etc. I have to be DOING something while I listen- I can't just WATCH TV! I also have always been SUPER hard on myself, and if I am not doing something that could help me to better succeed or to grow in some way, I feel like I'm wasting my time. This weird fact about me has really helped me to grow though, because podcasts and audiobooks can teach and grow someone a lot. My favorite podcast of all time is none other than The Dave Ramsey show.
Which, if you haven't heard of it, CHECK IT OUT!!
Dave Ramsey's whole goal is to get people out of debt- but along with that, he gives a lot of other great advice to his audience. AND it all relates back to scripture and Jesus Christ. It is an AMAZING show and I started watching it at age 17. I am so lucky to have found The Dave Ramsey Show at such a young age, because I learned BEFORE going into debt, well... not to get into debt! But, more importantly I learned HOW to avoid debt and to make smart financial decisions. Dave inspired me to speak out on this topic and to educate other people my age before they get to the age where we can make those mistakes!
The CULTURE says "get a credit card"
"student loans are normal" "car payments are a part of life"
...but Dave says NO THEY AREN'T.
and I wholeheartedly agree with him.
I knew immediately after getting hooked on Dave's plan that my dream job was to become a Ramsey Personality, just like Dave Ramsey, Rachel Cruz, Chris Hogan, Anthony ONeal, and the whole gang. Not only do I love the message behind his show, but I love educating and giving advice to others, and I ALWAYS knew I wanted to be a public speaker. It seems like the perfect fit for me!
I also knew that at only 19 years old with hardly any experience under my belt, I couldn't just waltz on up to Dave and apply for such a hefty position without preparation! So- I decided to create my own platform to gain that experience... and Beat The Culture was born!
So, here we are... present day. I have BIG plans for myself and this platform. I hope that it will make as big of an impact on your life as it will for mine. But, without Dave Ramsey I wouldn't have even thought up this idea! So we have him to thank for that. I'm speaking it into existence, I WILL work for him one day! If it's in God's plan, of course...
